River Valley Kennels

For nearly three decades, German Shorthair Pointers have been the breed of choice for River Valley Kennels.

At River Valley Kennels, we believe that the development of a great bird dog starts with breeding.  There are many components to breeding and at River Valley Kennels it includes:

  • Great Temperament
  • Sound Natural Ability coupled with Quality Training
  • Nutrition
  • Conditioning

With the hunting season being only a few short months each year, it is vital that dogs possess the ability to shine in the field  as well as be a good addition to our families.

River Valley Kennels is not a large operation that produces multiple litters per year.  The development process for our dogs (male or female) takes a minimum of two years.  Where each dog is evaluated to determine if they are a viable candidate for breeding.

Dogs are evaluated during fall hunting trips in several states, competitions including AKC Hunt TestsField Trials and some NAVDHA events.  For this reason, puppies are not always available, and interested parties should contact us early to discuss future litters.

River Valley Kennels also offers Gun Dog Training and Hunt Test Campaigning for AKC Senior and Master levels.  In order to ensure that each client and their dog receive the proper amount of training and development, we limit the amount of dogs we train at any given time.

I invite you to take a few minutes to look through our website for additional information.  If you have any questions regarding training or future litters, please feel free to contact us at your convenience.
